Art in The Napa Valley

by Donald

Art in the Napa Valley flows seamlessly with the district’s praised traditions of world famous wine and rich cuisines. Along with the many art events, galleries, museums, and history, visitors of the Napa Valley have the opportunity to participate in the creativity and arts through various workshops and events. Some of these opportunities include: painting, glass making, ceramics, and pottery. Undoubtably, the Napa Valley offers a scenic backdrop for showing off all of the variety of art that is seen all throughout the region.

Sculpture, Napa Art Walk

Some of the most popular art attractions in the Napa Valley are the Napa ARTwalk and the Yountville Art Walk. Both walks show off the art and sculptures done by world famous artists and allow for visitors to experience the vibrant art culture of the Napa Valley.

Napa ARTwalk
The Napa ARTwalk was a program that was launched in 2010 by the Arts Council and the City of Napa. This display would be in Downtown Napa, right on the Napa Riverfront, and would be a collection of sculptures that are changed on a yearly rotation. Every year the theme changes and represents the different types of cultures that are in Napa. The Napa ARTwalk is visitor friendly and caters to self guided, interactive tours through the aid of audio interaction.

Yountville Art Walk
Just one city up from the Napa Valley, is Yountville. Being an artistic culture, Yountville has its own Art Walk that is unlike anything other. The Yountville Art Walk is a self-guided tour that displays several metal and glass sculptures all crafted by public artist, Gordon Huether. Each statue is placed strategically throughout the lovely town of Yountville and compliments its quaint qualities and beautiful atmosphere. In 2011, the Yountville Art Walk was unveiled their newest addition to the Art Walk. The piece is called Chaos Pamplona, it is a 26-foot bronze statue that was created by renowned artist Jedd Novatt.

The Napa Valley is a beautiful city that is widely known for its world-class wines and delicious foods, as well as the beautiful Napa Valley River!

Quiet and scenic, the Napa Valley River offers a full-service marina, a nearby winery, a restaurant, and a yacht club. The Napa Valley Marina and the Napa Valley Yacht Club are two wonderful stops for anyone looking for a perfect boating excursion in the Napa Valley.

The Napa Valley Marina is the largest public boating facility on the Napa River. In addition to the large boatyard, the Napa Valley Marina is complete with 200 covered and open slips, a guest dock, and a fuel dock. The Napa Valley Marina’s boatyard has room for more than 250 boats and in the warmer weather, this boatyard is an incredibly popular site for those looking to enjoy a beautiful day out on the river. The entrance to the Napa Valley Marina is in the Mare Island Strait, right in between Mare Island and Vallejo, CA and is only 6 miles south of downtown Napa.

Going upriver, through a beautiful scene of shorebirds, herons, and loons, and underneath a fixed bridge, the Napa Yacht Club awaits. The Napa Valley Yacht Club has a 180-foot guest dock that welcomes visitors with open arms and is extremely close to downtown Napa. Although downtown has been under development for many years, Napa has finally built an accessible and beautiful waterfront for boaters to stop and enjoy the luxuries that are offered in the heart of downtown Napa Valley.

Both the Napa Valley Marina and the Napa Valley Yacht Club offer incredible accommodations and hospitality to all who stop to visit. Likewise, both locations offer the availability and option to stay for the night. There is some amazing pieces to be admired here, which make this gallery a “must-visit!”

Napa Riverfront Art: Napa’s Riverfront ARTwalk

by Local Marketing

Napa Valley Riverfront ARTwalk Donald Buresh Waterfront Property Expert

With spring just around the corner, it is a wonderful time of the year that we can get out and enjoy the sights and smells, beautiful flowers, trees, and nature itself!

But, it’s also a good time to appreciate beauty, and what better place to do that than at the Napa Riverfront’s own “ARTwalk.”

Napa’s ARTwalk creates an exciting and appealing environment for the public by integrating outdoor art with public areas.  The ARTwalk does a great job at preserving and enriching Napa’s cultural environment, and also promotes participation from the public and interaction with artwork and their artists.  They keep artwork on view for twenty-four months, and during that time the members of the community and tourists alike are encouraged to nominate one of the pieces of art for a “People’s Choice Award.”  The annual winner of this award also receives a prize of a two-night long getaway in Napa.

To make your visit easier for you to understand, there are downloadable brochures available for you to use that you can get here.  The brochures include a guide of the art locations, information about the people who created the artwork, as well as links to the ARTwalk’s audio tour, which enables a self-guided viewing of the art display from the sunrise until the sunset!  Thanks to technology, you can use the audio tour by simply scanning a QR code off of the brochure using your iPhone or any other device that supports a QR code-scanning app!  The ARTwalk is a great art destination in Napa, and it helps to stimulate the Downtown economy through increasing its pedestrian activity.

For more information about Napa’s riverfront ARTwalk, you can visit their website by clicking here!

27.7 Percent Increase in Napa Valley Median Home Values

by Local Marketing

Median Home Values in Napa Valley Up 27 percentThere is great news for the homeowners who made it through the recession and have spent the past several years hoping to see their home values rise again!

Napa County home prices rebounded in 2013, increasing 27.7% from 2012 levels, according to Bay Area Real Estate Information Services.  The median home price for Napa County homes rose to $454,500, compared to $355,750 in 2012.  Homes spent an average of 89 days on the market in 2013, while the average was 118 days in 2012.  With the foreclosure crisis winding down, the number of distressed property sales in 2013 declined to just 11.7% of the market, compared to 25.66% in 2012.

“There are very few short sales” and bank-owned properties for sale now, said Randy Gularte of Heritage Sotheby’s International Realty. With those distressed properties removed from the market, “Now it’s a matter of a normal buyer/seller market,” he said.

Unlike during the pre-recession era of 100 percent financing loans, Gularte said today’s buyer “has skin in the game.” “Qualified buyers are buying houses. I think it will help us solidify the market.”

San Francisco broker Jeff Appenrodt of Laurel Realty, who recently hosted an open house for a home in the Napa Yacht Club, said he has many clients from San Francisco and the Bay Area who want to buy in Napa.

The broker said buyers are drawn to any property close to city areas such as Napa or St. Helena, and with enough space for grapes, whether for aesthetic or business reasons.

“I have a client in San Francisco who is buying all kinds of property in Napa,” he said. That client has purchased somewhere around $5 to $6 million of property in the past six months, both land and homes, he said. “That area is on the rise” and his clients are looking to buy, said Appenrodt.
